The Omega Story
The Omega watch story begins in 1848, when founder Louis Brandt began hand assembling key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen in his principality La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the northwest corner of Switzerland. However, the Omega name didn’t appear until 1894, after Louis Brandt had passed away and his watchmaking traditions were taken over by his sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar Brandt. Omega watches have long been associated with glamorous screen and sports stars–the Omega Seamaster is famous for being the watch of choice for James Bond–with current ambassadors including Pierce Brosnan, Nicole Kidman, tennis player Anna Kournikova, and swimmers Michael Phelps and Ian Thorpe.
But Omega is more than just a fashionable watch. In 1965, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph was “flight-qualified by NASA for all manned space missions” as the only wristwatch to have withstood all of the U.S. space agency’s severe tests, including passing grades for extreme shocks, vibrations, and temperatures ranging from -18 to +93 degrees Celsius. The greatest moment in the Speedmaster’s history was undoubtedly 20 July 1969 at 02:56 GMT, when it recorded man’s first steps on the Moon’s surface as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Today, Omega is known for its rigorous testing of new movements, cases, and bands. Each new Omega movement is tested on the wrist in existing Omega models, while various laboratory tests are conducted to determine temperature-resistance, shock-resistance and vibration-resistance.

mens omega constellation classic 1212.10,
I have had this watch for about 6 years. It keeps ok time. It looses a second or so each month. The band feels good and fits great.I needed a couple of links removed and the did the for me when I got the watch. I pick the watch up in Jamaca on a cruise.I think a paid $1500.00 or so. I wear it to go swimming and to the beach.I have no trouble with water damage.I did have the main seal replaced last year when the battery needed replacing.I think it cost me $30.00 at a local place. I think the look is simple but nice and it is smaller and thinner then a rolex I have. I wear it every day and it looks new. If I had to do it over again I would by the automatic style, just because of possible resale and I like the sweeping hand of a automatic.

Best watch You can ever own,
I bought this watch as a reward for getting a big promotion. The date of the promotion was March 23, 1993, and it is engraved on the back of the watch. I wore this watch to work every until I retired in 2003. I looks as good as the day I bought it. It keeps flawless time. I always compliments for its beauty. I paid $1400 for it, and the jewel had to order three extra full gold bar links for me. I was not charged for these, and I know at 18 carat gold, they were not cheap.
Shorty after I bought it, I and my wife went car shopping, and I noticed the salesman took a long look at the watch when we met him. He steared us towards the high end cars, maybe thinking with such an elegant watch we must be loaded.
It is something one wants to pass down. I plan to leave it to my grandson, my namesake, for his use someday. It has great sentimantal value to me.
